PASSION OF SLEEPY HOLLOW by LEXI POST

Passion of Sleepy Hollow
by Lexi Post
Genre: Paranormal Erotic Romance
Re-Release Date: September 14, 2016

When present day headless horseman Braeden Van Brunt meets the original Katrina Van Tassel, he cannot resist her pull on his heart, but her own heart may still be with his look-alike ancestor. How can he love a woman living in a different time period and put the past to rest, especially when the dead don’t rest in Sleepy Hollow?

Recluse Braeden Van Brunt is not happy to be the Headless Horseman…until he meets Katrina Van Tassel, owner of the Sleepy Hollow Inn, whose allure bewitches him from the front desk into the bedroom. When he discovers Kat and the village of Sleepy Hollow are cursed to exist only in the present day for one weekend a year, he realizes the sacrifice he must make if he wants to keep her.

Katrina Van Tassel lives between slivers of time. She thought she was through grieving her betrothed’s death, but her dreams flare to life when his mirror-image arrives requesting a room. Drawn to Braeden, she is taken to greater heights of intimacy than she ever imagined, but she can’t be sure if her heart is with him or with the love from her past.

Knowing he must conquer both time and ghosts to keep the only woman he’s ever loved, Braeden must put the past to rest. But the dead won’t rest in Sleepy Hollow.

Author Note: Passion of Sleepy Hollow was previously published by Ellora's Cave in 2014.

Her blue eyes, so full of life, looked everywhere but at him as multiple emotions crossed her face. He didn’t want the one that meant he irritated the hell out of her. She was like a roulette wheel and he needed it to stop so the ball fell in his favor. Lifting his finger, he replaced it with his lips.
Just a gentle kiss, like the night before. But her intake of breath parted her lips and he couldn’t resist. Not wanting to scare her off, he slipped his tongue inside slowly to explore.
When her hands came to rest on his waist, he deepened the kiss, moving his hand behind her head to hold her in place. A tiny sound escaped from her throat and his cock came to life. He needed her closer.
Suddenly, she pulled away and stared at him. “Fine.”
“Fine?” Nothing was fine. He wanted to keep kissing her. What was she doing?
She brushed past him and opened the kitchen door. “Fine, you can stay. I need to get my quilt and pillow from my room.”
The door shut solidly, leaving him to stare at the wooden grain. “What the hell?” He ran his hand through his hair and shook his head. Obviously, he had no skill with the opposite sex anymore. His long abstinence since the debacle with Reed had taken its toll.
His blood cooled at the thought of his best friend. He should know better than to get close to people. He was better off behind the screen of his computer where it was safe. Kat was not safe. But God, she was fun.
He opened the kitchen door and strode down the hall to her room, his room…their room if he had his way.

Kat closed the door to her room and leaned against it. Her heart raced so fast it could beat a squirrel up a tree. Licking her lips, she closed her eyes. Braeden’s kiss brought back all those wonderful feelings she used to have with Brom. The ones where her toes curled inside her buckle shoes and her body quivered.
She crossed her arms over her stomach. She hadn’t had those with anyone else since. Not even slightly. What was she going to do? She’d been desperate to get away, and now he would be staying the night. She opened her eyes. Staying in her room. Oh Lord.
Moving to her chest at the end of the bed, she pulled out a pillow and threw it on the floor. She’d already changed the sheets because he was supposed to leave. It had been so hard not to bury her face in his unique scent. It reminded her of the forest after a rainstorm, musky, comforting, making her want to snuggle in for a winter hibernation.
Ugh, what was she thinking? He was Stephen’s brother, a Newtimer, and he would leave tomorrow.
Oh no. The village would be long gone by then. What would happen to Braeden then? She glanced toward the door, listening to the floorboards creak under his weight. Quickly, she pulled her quilt from the chest and grabbed the pillow.
Too late.
The door opened and he ducked inside, obliterating the opening from her sight. He stood stock-still, studying her once again. The lantern light softened his features, proving how different he really appeared from Brom.
Straightening her shoulders, she stepped toward him. “Your room is all set. I’ll just make my bed in the parlor.”
He didn’t move, and she couldn’t go through the door unless he did.
“Braeden? You need to step aside for me to leave.”
“And what if I don’t want you to leave?”
Her breath caught in her throat as tingling sped from her head to her toes. She swallowed hard. “What do you mean?” She turned away to give herself a moment without looking at his handsome visage. “Did I forget something?”
The floor creaked behind her and she stepped forward to inspect the water pitcher. If he touched her again, she’d be lost. She turned to review the bed. “I assure you these are clean sheets.”
The door closed.
She spun and the quilt knocked the pitcher off the table onto the floor with a crash. “Oh no.” She knelt, suddenly wanting to cry, though the pitcher wasn’t anything special. In fact, it had a crack along the handle and was bound to break soon anyway.
“Come. It’s okay.” Braeden’s hands on her arms helped her to stand and sent fire through her already taut nerves.
Gently, he enveloped her in his arms. Her heart slowed as a feeling of rightness settled through her. With her face against his chest, she could hear his strong heartbeat.
“Kat.” The soft-spoken word came from deep within him and she met his gaze. “Don’t be mad at me.”
The loneliness she glimpsed in his eyes undid her. Before she could think about what she did, she hooked her hand around his neck and pulled him forward for a kiss.

Royal herald, Sir Talon Quereste imagined that one day he would settle on a quiet little estate, marry a gently bred damsel, and raise a flock of children. Herald’s Heart Excerpt

Larkin climbed the stairs to the second floor. She was weary to the bone, but at least she no longer smelled like a midden. She looked longingly at the solar. The bed there was soft and warm, and she dearly wished to sleep in comfort. But Sir Talon the singer occupied that bed. He might welcome her, but she would not welcome the consequences of joining him. Especially not if it involved meetings and greetings like those he’d sung about. That cursed song had tortured her thoughts all afternoon. She’d tried every trick she knew to escape the bawdy verses and met with failure at each attempt.

She shook her head and told herself firmly to get about finding a place to sleep undisturbed when a shout of laughter from the solar stopped her. There was a small chamber, directly across from the solar that was not too filthy. It held a cot with ticking, and she’d gotten linens and blankets from the laundress. Tomorrow she would scour the room from top to bottom. For tonight ‘twas enough to have clean linens, a warm blanket, and privacy. No skin-tingling, toe-curling, off-key voice would disturb her rest. She’d not allow it.

“Arrh, you’ve no need to be sharp with me. I am beset with feminine invasions of my chamber. First that red-haired nymph steals into my bath. Now you, Cat, steal into my bed.”

Anger carried Larkin through the solar door before she had time to think things through. “You wretched man. You knew I was here.”

He dropped his jaw, as if her words made no sense. “I beg pardon?”

“All the time you sang that horrid song, you knew I listened.”

His lips turned up. He stepped between her and her view of the bed’s occupant then pulled the bed curtain closed.

She wanted to strike the grin from his face. “And then you stood up, while I watched. You knew I watched. Did you enjoy it? Did it please you to flaunt your nakedness like any bawd?”

“I think it more to the point to ask if you enjoyed it?”

“Y. . . You . . . you . . . know I could not.”

“Why?”

“’Tis unseemly.”

“You could have left,” he said blandly.

“With you to see me, and all the world to know I was in the room when you bathed?”

“If you shout any louder ‘twill be known all the same.”

“You wished to insult me.” She reined in her voice.

“Nay, I do not insult women.” His tone became hard. “’Tis not uncommon for serving women to assist nobles when bathing.”

“It is if they are . . .” aware she was about to reveal that she too had been naked, Larkin stopped.

“Yes? If they are what?” he invited her to finish.

Larkin opened her mouth to speak, then shut it. What could she say? If they are naked in the same room with you, as I was. She couldn’t, wouldn’t say that.

Book Blurb

I’m not going to be fooled by another Mr. Wrong.
I once thought I’d found my Mr. Right—then my best friend found him as well. One divorce later, and this single mom swore off love, romance, and all smooth-talking, tattooed, bad boys.

Until him.

The worst mistake of my life moved in next door—a bona fide pain in my ass and pleasure everywhere else. Adam Hardick might hide behind his beard and sunglasses, but I see through him—he’s chronically single and just looking for trouble.

And now his eyes aren’t staying on his side of the fence.

It doesn’t matter that Adam is sexier than any man I’ve ever known, or that he’s hiding a mysterious injury from his service overseas. I’m looking for stability, responsibility, and someone who can love me and my three-year-old daughter. I can’t risk another broken heart.

But when our innocent fling becomes an accidental pregnancy, our relationship isn’t just for fun anymore. Can I trust a committed bachelor to become a devoted daddy?

It’s easy to fall in love…but sometimes the best romance is the one you never expected.

FOUND MISSING by REBECCA YORK

Found Missing
by Rebecca York
Series: Decorah Security
Genre: Paranormal Romantic Suspense
Cover Designer: Earthly Charms
Release Date: September 1, 2015

When Jenny Seaver escaped from her worst nightmare, she hoped she had found a refuge with Decorah Security agent Grant Bradley. But deep in her heart, she knew safety was only an illusion. Could she risk the night of passion they both wanted before she disappeared from his life?

Grant’s need for Jenny defied any danger.  But unless she decided to trust him with the secrets of her past, the evil that followed her could destroy them both.

Prologue

“Any progress on finding the little bitch?”
The question came from a man with iron-gray hair and a scar that cut across his chin. Leaning back in his comfortable chair, he regarded Carlos Mardano through slitted eyes.
Carlos knew that look. Often it was the prelude to dangerous anger that would flare like boiling lava spewing from a volcano. His boss’s dark, hooded eyes were one of the reasons he’d gotten the nickname Rambo. The other was his ruthless pursuit of any goal he set.
Carlos stood a few yards from the man’s chair, staring over his shoulder at a weird-looking sketch on the wall. One of the other security guys had told him it was by a big-time artist named Picasso. It was supposed to be an original—and supposed to be expensive, but it looked like someone had taken a face apart and put it back together wrong.
Trying not to think about failure, he pressed his hands to his sides to keep them from trembling. But this whole damn screwup was not his fault. It was a case of shoot the messenger. He’d been off the evening the girl had escaped. He wasn’t the one who had been stupid enough to leave car keys lying around. And he sure as hell wasn’t the one who had chased her at dangerous speed—then watched her vehicle skid off the road on a sharp turn and plow into a stone wall. Yeah, right. That guy was long dead.
Carlos licked his lips. “We know she was taken to the hospital and admitted as Jane Doe—not Jenny Seaver—because she had no identification. And she was unconscious.”
Rambo rocked forward in his chair and let his Gucci loafers slam down on the inlaid parquet floor. “Jesus Christ, you’re not telling me anything new. But people don’t simply vanish from the hospital.”
“Someone checked her out. And whoever let her go tampered with the paperwork. There’s no record of her having even been there.”
“Yeah, well, something weird is going on. I want to know who took her away, what they did with her, and why.”
Despite the air conditioning in the room, Carlos felt sweat collect at the back of his neck and trickle down the inside of his shirt. “I did some snooping around the administrative offices. I think the hospital was glad to get rid of her because she had no insurance, as far as they knew. So who was going to pay the bills of some no-name chick in a coma?”
Rambo pushed himself up straighter. “Probably somebody was paid to take her off their hands. I want you to find out who it was—and I want them brought here for interrogation.”
The younger man shuddered, thinking about the holding cells in the basement below the high-class rooms on the house’s main floor. People went down the steps to the lower level and never came out again—at least under their own power.
He wanted to ask, “What if she’s dead?” But he kept the question locked behind his lips. If she was dead, that might be the same as failing to find her.
“Go on. Get busy.”
Thankful to escape, Carlos turned on his heel. As he exited the wood-paneled office, he heard the boss muttering, “If that bitch has fucked up my plans, I’ll kill her.”
Carlos hurried down the corridor and into the sunshine, where he stood on the back patio taking gulps of air. He didn’t much like the position he was in now. But at least he wasn’t Jenny Seaver. He remembered the girl as a complete wimp. Who would believe she had the balls to escape?
And now she was missing, probably badly injured. It still amazed him that she’d managed to run away, but her unlikely escape only spoke of her desperation.
Where the hell was she? And how long did he have to find her before the boss went batshit and turned his wrath on Carlos.
